New FREE Bluegrass Festival In Los Gatos June 22

The new Los Gatos Bluegrass & Americana Music Festival is set for June 22 in Town Plaza Park in Los GatosNCBS welcomes this exciting FREE event to our area. The day event will also offer some special reserved seats.  The event is presented by the downtown Los Gatos business community. The bands will include the Goat Hill Girls and the Wildcat Mountain Ramblers and more.

NCBS Announces Main Stage Line-Up For the Historic 30th Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival

The Northern California Bluegrass Society is pleased to announce the 2024 main stage line-up for the Historic 30th Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival to be held in Tres Pinos, California the second weekend of August, 8th – 11th.  This year’s festival will feature 20 bands on the Main Stage, along with a Saturday Night Dance, The Lantern Stage on Thursday evening and the First Stage starting Friday morning,

The main stage will feature: Bean Creek, Blue Birds On A Wire, Bluegrass Holiday, Brent Pierce and his Acid Grass Boys, Dark Hollow, Dirty Cello, Honey Run, Late for the Train, Lonesome Still, Lucas Lawson, Mission Blue, Red Dog Ash, Salty Sally Band, Sidesaddle & Co., Sunny Side of the Mountain, The Goat Hill Girls, The Storytellers, Trouble Town, Water Tower, and Whole Hog.

The GOF prides itself in showcasing California bluegrass bands.

The Saturday night dance to celebrate the 30th gathering will be hosted by Eric Burman and the Brookdale Bluegrass Band. Eric is the founder of the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, presented by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

The Berkeley Bluegrass Festival Coming To The Freight April 26-28

The 8th Annual Berkeley Bluegrass Festival is set for April 26-28 at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley. There are concerts each evening plus curated instructional workshops. The Freight festival is the only bluegrass festival in the East Bay and is programmed by Grammy-award winner Laurie Lewis and the Freight’s Artistic Director Peter Williams.

Join the local, fun Bluegrass Society and plan to attend the FREE NCBS Gathering for Members & Volunteers on Saturday, July 13 at Loch Lomond Park in Felton. Your membership in the Northern California Bluegrass Society supports bluegrass music in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Monterey Bay Area, and in all of Northern California.

IBMA Foundation Strings For Dreams Annual Raffle Is Underway

The IBMA Foundation’s Strings for Dreams Bluegrass Raffle is underway. The prize for the 4th annual raffle is a 2011 Golden Era Deering Banjo with a hardshell case and other accessories, valued at $4,000. Longtime IBMA Foundation supporter Casey Henry donated the banjo. Previously owned by Casey’s student Betty Fisher, the instrument is in very good condition and has a powerful tone.

Tickets will be offered at $20 for one or $100 for six tickets. There is no limit to the number of chances each person may purchase. Raffle tickets are available until May 12, 2024 (11:59 pm, Eastern Daylight Time.)

The Northern California Bluegrass Society is a longtime organizational member of the International Bluegrass Music Association which is affiliated with the IBMA Foundation. The Foundation’s philanthropy supports the development of bluegrass music nationally and internationally. NCBS President Michael Hall serves on the foundation’s board of directors.
